Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu is paying a visit to London on Tuesday, on which occasion he will have a meeting with his British counterpart Philip Hammond and will participate in a conference on the topic of the ballistic missile defence.
“Aurescu will participate, as main speaker, in the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) conference on the topic of the defence against ballistic missiles. Moreover, the schedule of the visit to London of the Romanian Foreign Minister will also include a meeting with British counterpart Philip Hammond, within which they will approach common interest aspects on the bilateral and European agenda and security issues. At the same time, the Romanian head diplomat will meet with representatives of the Romanian community of the UK,” points out a release remitted to Agerpres.
According to the cited source, in the RUSI conference, Bogdan Aurescu will deliver a speech on the “Missile Defense: A Strategic Transatlantic Project” topic, within the first session of debates: The Strategic Landscape, NATO BMD and relations with Russia. In his intervention, Aurescu will talk about the significance of the Romanian-US bilateral project for the deployment in Romania of the elements of the Second Phase of US European Phased Adaptive Approach regarding the defence against the ballistic missiles in Europe, the cited source adds.
