President Klaus Iohannis, accompanied by his wife, Carmen Iohannis, on Wednesday are set to attend the official dinner that Princess Margareta is going to hold at the Peles Castle, in Sinaia, on her birthday, becoming thus the first Romanian President-in-office in Romania’s entire history to attend an official event at the Peles Castle, in the company of the royal family.
Thus, according to a release of the Presidential Administration, the event will start around 7 pm EET in the State Dining Room of the Peles Castle, among the other guests being representatives of the public institutions in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, and personalities of the cultural, diplomatic and sports worlds, and also representatives of the church and of the civil society.
According to the abovementioned source, the event will also mark a first for Romania, since this is for the first time in the entire national history when a Romanian President-in-office participates in an official event at the Peles Castle, in the company of the royal family.
Klaus Iohannis was also the first Romanian President who met with the royal family before being sworn in office.
The Peles Castle will be the host of a series of public events that are scheduled to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, in marking Princess Margareta’s birthday.
Thus, on Tuesday, Prince Radu conferred to the Romanian Rugby Federation the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mihai I and also the same distinction to the Romanian Oina Federation, while Princess Margareta conferred, in King Mihai’s name, the capacity of an official supplier of the Royal House of Romania to some Romanian companies.
Also, on Wednesday, before the official dinner begins, the Princess will bestow a series of distinctions on personalities of the public life and also on a series of cultural and educational institutions in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, during a ceremony to be held in the Hall of Honours of the Peles Castle.
