The A3 Highway (also called the Transylvania Highway on its Brasov-Bors section) links Bucharest to the border with Hungary, through Bors. Two sections are operational: Bucharest – Ploiesti (with the exception of 6.5 kilometres still under construction) and Campia Turzii – Gilau. The constructors of the rest of the sections will be chosen on the basis of tenders organized by the National Highway Company (CNADNR).
This year the first section for which CNADNR organizes a tender is the one between Nadaselu, a locality situated immediately to the northwest of Cluj-Napoca, and Mihaiesti (located at the intersection with National Road 1F toward Zalau). The section has a length of 16.8 kilometres and continues the 8.7-km section that is currently being built between Gilau and Nadaselu. The tender starts from the estimated value of approximately EUR 154 M, and the financing would come exclusively from the state budget.
According to CNADNR, the contract’s estimated value is RON 687,513,425, VAT not included, namely EUR 154 M.
The authorities underscore that the “contract will have an implementation period of 66 months, of which 6 months represent the design period, 12 months the construction period and 48 months the warranty period.”
CNADNR points out that the deadline for the filing of offers is May 6, 10 a.m., and the offers will be opened on the same day at 12 p.m.
