President Klaus Iohannis wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday about his presence at the official dinner offered by the Royal Family at the Peles Castle on the birthday of Princess Margareta, pointing out that the Royal Family represents “a symbol of the values I admire.”
The Facebook post is accompanied by a photograph showing Klaus Iohannis and his wife Carmen at the Peles Castle alongside Princess Margareta and Prince Radu.
In the message posted on Facebook, the Head of State points out that he and his wife took part in the official dinner offered by the Royal Family at the Peles Castle on the birthday of Princess Margareta.
“For me the Royal Family represents not only an essential page in the history of our country but also a symbol of the values I admire: respect toward people, the strength to overcome injustice and hardship, generosity and propriety,” the message reads.
The dinner at the Peles Castle was also attended by representatives of Romanian and Moldovan public authorities, cultural, diplomatic and sports personalities, representatives of the clergy and of civil society.
The Presidential Administration pointed out on Wednesday that Klaus Iohannis is “the first acting president in the history of Romania that takes part in an official event at the Peles Castle, alongside the Royal Family.”
“On 19 November 2014, three days after the presidential runoff, he was also the first president that met the Royal Family before the swearing-in,” the aforementioned source added.
Princess Margareta celebrated her birthday (March 26) at the Peles Castle on Tuesday and Wednesday through a series of public events that included an award ceremony for personalities and an official dinner, according to a communiqué remitted to Mediafax.
