Mega Image, part of Delhaize Group: Reinventing permanently the business model to improve consumers’ shopping experience

Being the largest retail supermarkets chain in Romania, with a leading position on the market, Mega Image makes progress and pays special attention to permanently improve the business model aiming to offer a better shopping experience to consumers and also to remain a valuable citizen in the communities where the company operates.

Mega Image strategy is to come closer and closer to its customers, interacting with them on their passions, their interests and their discoveries. “Our task is to become a facilitator of their lifestyle by bringing easy solutions and easy shopping in order to let them enjoy their life”, stated Xavier Piesvaux (photo) , General Director Mega Image.

The strategy to get closer to customers was proved in some strong initiatives: an online solution, in collaboration with eMAG, under the name “Supermarket la tine acasa”, with a national wide coverage;  Wine Gallery – an innovation for the business model and for the shopping experience offered to consumers – targeting wine specialists and amateurs – proposing an unique range of 900 assortments of wines, over 50 spirits and gourmet products associated with wine consumption; Equilibrium Health & Wellness – a new concept corner offering consumers – targeting ladies – a wide range of food and non-food products, for a balanced, healthier and a more natural lifestyle. The concept corner includes a selection of about 2,500 products from over 10 different categories, such as: organic food, spices, seeds and sprouts, raw-vegan, sports nutrition, supplements, vitamins, natural cosmetics, spa, organic cleaning products.

“The main targets of the new concepts are focusing on improving the shopping experience of our customers through a large products variety, through high level quality standards and through a better shopping comfort”, added Xavier Piesvaux.

Mega Image will continue to expand the stores network in Romania, being closer to consumers and offering them a new shopping experience nearby home, with a large variety of qualitative products, at an accessible price.

All the company’s activities in Romania translate the core company values which are: determination, integrity, courage, humility and humor. “Our ambition for 2015 is to continue to bring added value to our customers’ life, both for the existing ones and for those who are prepared to join us”, concluded Xavier Piesvaux.
