Constantin Dudu Ionescu, former Minister of Interior during the Democratic Convention period, has been appointed as State Counsellor at the Presidential Administration by President Klaus Iohannis.
By presidential decree, Klaus Iohannis on Tuesday moved into the reserve Gen. Ion Oprisor, presidential adviser and head of the National Security Department at Cotroceni, at the proposal of Defence Minister Mircea Dusa.
Acceding to the website of the Presidential Administration,, ‘the National Security Department (DSN) is the specialized structure of the Presidential Administration that helps the president fulfil his constitutional duties in the general field of national security and as Commandant of the Armed Forces, based on the National Country Defence Strategy and the National Security Strategy of Romania’.
‘Constantin Dudu Ionescu has become a de facto head of the National Intelligence Pool. The information is that Dudu Ionescu was proposed to the president by current SRI chief Eduard Hellvig, who was the ex-interior minister’s advisor back in 1999. Constantin Dudu Ionescu is the wedding god father of the SRI chief’, according to evz.ro. ‘A spectacular move was the appointment to the post as Director of the Office of Integrated Intelligence of the State Counsellor Constantin Dudu Ionescu.
