Opinion poll: PNL 10 percent ahead of PSD, Parliament with only three parties

An opinion poll conducted by the Political Rating Agency reveals that the National Liberal Party (PNL) is 10 percent ahead of the main ruling party, the Social Democratic Party (PSD) . All the other parties except the Hungarian ethnics’ UDMR are below the electoral threshold.

The ‘Political Market’ barometer conducted by the Political Rating Agency from March 30 through April 3 on 1,100 people credits PNL  with 44 percent, while  PSD is credited  with only 34 percent . In addition, the Democrat Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) is credited with 5 percent. All the other parties have less than the 3 percent necessary to be represented in the Parliament.

The difference in favour of PNL slightly increases to 46 percent against 33 percent for PSD if only the respondents interested in the parliamentary elections are taken into account, the polling organization also informed Agerpres on Sunday.

The interest level for the parliamentary elections is below 40 percent, compared to 60 percent of voters being interested in the presidential elections four months ago.

The poll was conducted through telephone interviews and has a margin of error of 3 percent.
