The Sibiu-Pitesti Highway is included as a top priority in the Transport Master Plan, so it will be built in the 2014-2020 period according to the Transport Ministry. “The highway has a length of 120 kilometres, of which 20 kilometres in mountainous area. The project has been estimated at EUR 1.6 bln, VAT not included, and the construction works will take place in 2017-2020,” a Transport Ministry communiqué reads.
Several stages have been completed so far. Thus, on February 11 the National Highway and Roads Company (CNADNR) has selected the Spea Ingineria Europea SA – Milano Italia Sucursala Bucuresti – Tecnic Consulting Engineering Romania SRL association as the winner of the contract for the renewal/updating of the feasibility study on the Sibiu-Pitesti Highway.
Following the public tender for that contract, an appeal was filed on February 23 against the result of the tender. The appeal is currently analyzed by the National Council for Solving Complaints (CNSC).
After the contract on updating the feasibility study on the Sibiu-Pitesti Highway is completed, CNADNR will start the public tender for the construction works contract.
