Former Minister Cristian David placed under judicial control

The High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) on Tuesday rejected the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA) request to prolong the house arrest measure in the case of former Minister of Interior Cristian David, who will continue to be investigated under a judicial control procedure, as he is charged with taking bribery.

The decision is not final and the DNA can file an appeal.

However, if the decision does become final, Cristian David will have certain obligations incumbent on him, among which the obligation to regularly appear before the Azuga town Police Office.

Cristian David stayed in preventive detention between January 22 – March 21, Agerpres informs.

According to the DNA, Cristian David allegedly claimed, in 2007, and received, on February 1, 2008, the amount of 500,000 euros from a denunciator, through an intermediary, in exchange for which he was supposed to guide and coordinate the activities of prefects of such a manner that the County Commission for Establishing Property Rights would issue the title of property over a 15-ha plot of land within the built-up areas of the Buzau municipality for the person in question.
