ICCJ extends preventive detention measure for Iulian Hertanu, PM Ponta’s brother-in-law, by another 30 days

The High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) on Tuesday decided to approve the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA) request to prolong by another 30 days the preventive detention measure in PM Ponta’s brother-in-law Iulian Hertanu’s case of defrauding European funds.

The same decision was taken for businessman Vladimir Razvan Ciorba, while businessmen Ilie Dragan remains in house arrest.

The decision is not final.

Iulian Hertanu, a shareholder of SC Grossman Engineering Group SRL, was taken into custody on February 18, being charged with creating a criminal ring, defrauding of European funds and tax evasion.

The same charges were brought to businessmen Mihail Marian Coman and Vladimir Razvan Ciorba.

Involved in the same case and currently facing judicial control are also MPs Sebastian Ghita and Vlad Cosma and the President of the Prahova County Council, Mircea Cosma.
