MEP Catalin Ivan to sue PSD leadership: I consider I am still a member of the party

MEP Catalin Ivan claimed that he would sue the management of PSD as he received no answer to his appeal regarding the dissolution of the management of the District 1 branch of PSD, mentioning that he still thought he was a member of PSD, although his transfer to PSD Dobrovat, in Iasi County, was not approved.

Catalin Ivan declared on Tuesday to the Mediafax correspondent that he would sue the PSD management as his appeal against their decision to dissolve the management of PSD District 1 was ignored.

“I contacted a law office and soon, I will start the lawsuit against the PSD management”, said Catalin Ivan, who had led PSD District 1 until the beginning of this year.

He mentioned that he also considered suing the leader of PSD Iasi, Gheorghe Nichita, after Social-Democrats of Iasi canceled his transfer from PSD District 1 to PSD Dobrovat, but that he would not do it as “Nichita was too small for this battle”.

Asked whether he still saw himself as a member of PSD, Ivan gave a positive answer, claiming that there is no reason to justify his suspension from the party.

“Lately, the members of the PSD management avoid defining my situation. They have nothing to say, anyway; I consider I am still a member of PSD and they must explain why my transfer was not legal”, MEP Catalin Ivan declared.

In February, MEP Catalin Ivan sent the central management of the party an appeal that included accusations against the “abusive dissolution of the PSD District 1 management” and demanded that the management should review their decision reached during the National Executive Committee (CExN), on January 13.

In March, Catalin Ivan transferred from PSD District 1 to PSD Dobrovat, in Iasi County, yet the decision was canceled by the PSD Iasi County Office.

Ivan explained that his move was made legally and mentioned that Gheorghe Nichita was pressured by Victor Ponta and Liviu Dragnea not to receive him inside PSD.

At the end of January, PSD President Victor Ponta had declared in Sinaia, after the CexN meeting, that the District 1 and District 5 branches of PSD were dissolved, based on a proposal made by the President of PSD Bucharest, Ecaterina Andronescu.
