Ponta, Gorghiu, Blaga, Tariceanu and Constantin invited to the UDMR Congress

PSD President, Prime Minister Victor Ponta, PNL Co-Chairs, Alina Gorghiu and Vasile Blaga, PLR President, Calin Popescu Tariceanu and PC leader Daniel Constantin, will attend, at the end of this week, the 12th Congress of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) in Cluj Napoca, the Union announces.

According to a press release issued by UDMR on Friday, a few Hungarian politicians, such as Vice-Prime Minister Semjen Zsolt, are also awaited at the Congress of the Union., Mediafax informs.

“We are awaiting over 1,000 attendants, including 778 delegates and 120 guests, respectively numerous representatives of the press and organizers. The event will be attended by numerous politicians of Romania and Hungary, including leaders of political parties in the Parliaments of both parties. Some of the attendants and speakers of the twelfth Congress of the Union will be Prime Minister Victor Ponta, PSD President; Senate President and PLR leader  Calin Popescu Tariceanu; PNL Co-Presidents Alina Gorghiu and Vasile Blaga, PC President Daniel Constantin, Hungarian Vice – Prime Minister Semjen Zsolt, Hungarian Socialist Party leader Tobias Jozsef, the Hungarian Different Politics Party Co-President Schiffer Andras, the FUEN President Hans Heinrich Hansen, The European People’s Party Vice-President in Hungary Mario David, as well as leaders of Hungarian parties in Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine”, the quoted press release shows.

The General Secretary of UDMR, Kovacs Peter, outlined in the press release that on Friday, in the first day of the Congress, there will be a presentation of the report issued on the activity of the President during his four years of mandate, changes in the Union Status, political debates and the election of the UDMR President, and in the second day, changes will be operated the Union Status and documents of the Congress will be adopted.

During the works of the UDMR Congress, there will be the award ceremony of the “Silver Tulip”, founded on the anniversary of 25 years since the appearance of UDMR, due to be offered to 80 former and present members in the central leadership of the Union.

“Another celebratory moment will be the screening, in premiere, of the documentary ‘UDMR: Together for 25 Years’, that narrates the 25-year history of the Union, told by emblematic narrators”, Kovacs also showed.

The twelfth Congress of UDMR will take place during April 17 – 18, at the Students’ Culture House in Cluj – Napoca.

The only candidate for the position of President of the Union is the present leader Kelemen Hunor (photo), Mediafax informs.
