Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici will travel to the United States on Thursday, to discuss the Tax Code draft with representatives of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the European Commission , sources in the Finance Ministry told Agerpres.
Teodorovici had announced the visit of his ministry’s delegation to Washington, after meeting the European Commission Vice President for the Euro and Social Dialogue Valdis Dombrovskis, on April 8.
‘All the measures stipulated by the Government in the Tax Code should not create macroeconomic unbalance. (…) On the occasion of the visit of a delegation of the [Public Finance] Ministry next week to Washington, where we will discuss with our partners – the IMF, the WB and the EC – we will also analyse these measures to see exactly their economic and social benefits, the arguments in their support, and especially the possible compensation measures considered by the Government to avoid any unbalance,’ Teodorovici explained.
He also mentioned ‘a close partnership’ he wanted with the IMF ‘as long as we are partners in this agreement.
