Convicted Romanian extradited from Spain to serve 20 years in prison

Convicted mobster Ioan Clamparu was escorted on Friday into an arrest facility of the Romanian police, under a European warrant; he is to serve a 20-year prison term, a release of the Inspectorate General of the Romanian Police informed Agerpres.

Clamparu was brought to Bucharest owing to the international collaboration between police and the judiciary authorities of Spain, the document mentions.

Clamparu was convicted for establishing an organized criminal group, human trafficking, child trafficking and termination of pregnancies. Another arrest warrant on his name was issued for initiating an organized criminal group for the purpose of serious crimes and procuring for prostitution.

His transfer approval was coordinated by the International Law and Judiciary Cooperation Directorate of the Romanian Ministry of Justice.
