For the third time in a row the Belgian Romanian Business Association (BEROBA) together with the Belgian Embassy in Bucharest and the Flemish and Walloon Trade Office are organizing a splendid week which aims to promote quality of life, the Belgian way of living and the mutual economic and social understanding between Romania and Belgium. To this extent, several seminars will be hosted by specialists from public and private sector. With the organization of a Sustainable Housing Seminar , the Belgian Week aims to promote energy efficiency and will engage positively towards the promotion of using future materials in construction in Romania. With a seminar on Social Economy, the Belgian Week has the ambition to contribute to the political debate in Romania which has to decide on the support for small scale economic activities in a fragile society environment.
From Monday 20th till Sunday 26th of April Belgian beer and chocolate will be highlighted at the Crowne Plaza Hotel as well as menus with Belgian specialties like mussels with fries or waffles of Liège.
With comic strip hero Nero, a Belgian Business Day on the 23rd of April in the afternoon and with a truly amazing culinary adventure, this third edition has found its identity which is at the same time Belgian and Romanian but above all, European. Its story tells us about these bilateral relations. With 135 years of official relations between Romania and Belgium, next to 175 years of diplomatic relations with the Romanian lands, Belgium is a longstanding partner of Romania. The publication of 2 volumes, one in 2013 and one in 2014 on the bilateral relations has gathered a lot of interest. The third volume which will be published in the coming months, covering the period from 1945 till today, has already received some very promising comments.
At the press conference, Ambassador Philippe Beke provided the latest information on the Belgian economic presence in Romania as well as all details of projected expectations in the field of bilateral relations. Alain Schodts, President of BEROBA highlighted different initiatives that BEROBA has recently taken and is planning to take. Nita Dodo, President of the Romanian Association BD-philes commented on the importance of the Nero exhibition and its possible availability on the Romanian book market. Nobody in Romania is doubting of the excellent performance of Belgian investors moving in FDI terms from the 21st to the 9th place from 2011 to 2014. One of the successful economic actors that is continuously increasing its activities is the logistic company H.Essers. CEO of H.Essers Romania, Jeroen Fabry, presented a state of play at the press point. Also present but not taking the floor were the organisers of the Sustainable Housing seminar and Seminar on Social Economy.
