PSD senator and wife concerned in influence peddling case

The National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) prosecutors on Thursday searched the Cluj County Hospital in a case concerning the wife of PSD Senator Alexandru Cordos, Mihaela Cordos, as well as the MP, indirectly, suspected of influence peddling for eight persons to obtain jobs with public institutions.

Mediafax quotes judicial sources as saying that Mihaela Lucia Cordos promised, in exchange for several material benefits and sums, to help at least eight persons obtain employment with various public institutions. She was bragging about her husband’s position and was demanding sums from EUR 800 to RON 10,000.

The law-enforcers have leads that MP Alexandru Cordos also participated in the influence peddling by Mihaela Lucia Cordos

According to the quoted source, from 2013 to December 2014, Mihaela Lucia Cordos asked for material benefits from eight people in order for her to help them obtain jobs with various state institutions. The senator’s wife was claiming to have connections with the management of the Cluj County Hospital or the Cluj County School Inspectorate and was promising to get jobs such as replacing teacher, lawyer or nurse, in exchange for the goods.

Sources from inside the investigation told Mediafax that the sums received were from EUR 800 to EUR 1,500.
