ICCJ: Elena Udrea to be placed in house arrest

The former minister Elena Udrea will be placed in house arrest, as decided on Thursday by the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ).

The former Regional Development and Tourism minister is prosecuted for corruption in the Gala Bute criminal case.

The ICCJ decision is final. Elena Udrea is to be released from the Targsor women penitentiary.

Elena Udrea was incarcerated at the Targsor Prison after being referred to court on 21 April in the Gala Bute case, charged with the commission of three bribery offences, abuse of office and attempted use of false, incomplete or inaccurate declarations for unjustly obtaining European Funds.
