Net nominal average salary, up 5.7% in March, to 1,829 lei

The net nominal average salary stood in March 2015 at 1,829 lei, on the rise from the previous month by 98 lei (5.7%), with its highest values having been recorded in the production of tobacco products (5,799 lei) and the lowest ones in hotels and restaurants (995 lei), according to the data released on Thursday by the National Statistics Institute (INS).
According to the INS, the gross nominal average salary in March 2015 was 2,529 lei, by 5.6% higher than in February 2015.
Compared to March 2014, the net nominal average salary increased by 7.2%. The real salary index versus the same period of the previous year was 106.4%.

Related to the trend of consumer prices, the said index was 105.3% for March 2015 compared to the previous month. Compared to October 1990, the real salary index stood at 135.1%, by 6.8 percentage points higher compared to that in February 2015.
In the public sector, increases were recorded in net average salary from the previous month in education (6.1%), due to the application of legal provisions in the current legislation, and also as a result of granting the amounts the hourly payment of teachers. Slight increases in the net average salary from the previous month were recorded also in healthcare and social assistance (1.7%) and in public administration (1.4%).
