Laura Georgescu’s bank accounts frozen

National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) prosecutors have announced a new expansion of their criminal probe against Laura Georgescu, the head of the National Audiovisual Council (CNA), deciding at the same time to freeze several of her bank accounts and assets within the limit of RON 2,296,200.

Prosecutors accuse Laura Georgescu of malfeasance in office (5 counts) and instigating forgery (5 counts).

As head of the CNA, Laura Georgescu issued false sanctions against television channels from 2013 to 2014 and, according to the DNA, “in some cases the notification was written and registered before the television show concerned was broadcast.”
