Most IT department directors in Romania (60 per cent) consider that digitalizing and the Internet of Everything (IoE) concept will influence the business strategy of companies in which they work, according to the results of a Cisco survey recently presented at the Cisco Connect event.
According to the survey, almost 30 per cent of the respondents believe that the transportation sector is the industry that could be influenced most by IoE. Likewise, 26 per cent of the respondents believe that IoE will radically transform the cities we live in, while 21 per cent believe that IoE will significantly change the manufacturing industry in Romania.
In what concerns the technological trends that make IoE a reality, IT managers will particularly take into consideration its security (31 per cent), mobility (23 per cent) and cloud computing (19 per cent) when devising future strategies.
“Digitalization and the Internet of Everything will have a major impact on private sector companies, as well as public sector companies, but also on cities and countries. In this context, we notice the decision-making factors’ need to understand the way in which companies or institutions can include digitalization in their strategies. This is one of the reasons why Cisco and IMD, Switzerland’s renowned business school, have laid the foundations of a Global Centre for Digital Business Transformation,” Cisco Romania General Manager Dorin Pena stated.
On the other hand, although they are aware of the need to change the strategies of the companies they work in and to allocate investments in order to benefit from newly-created opportunities, a third of the IT managers consider that company budgets represent the main obstacle in implementing the new technological solutions. At the same time, 22 per cent of them believe that the need to better understand what IoE is and means for companies represents an obstacle, while 15 per cent of the respondents see potential security vulnerabilities as an obstacle.
Cisco Connect is one of the most important technology and innovation events in Romania and this year’s edition brought together over 1,000 local IT&C specialists, networking experts and decision-making factors.
