Liberals demand Minister Rovana Plumb’s resignation

The Parliament group of the National Liberal Party in the Senate submitted on Monday, in the plenum, a main motion demanding the resignation of the Social Democrat Labour Minister Rovana Plumb (photo).

The document is entitled: “We have 3.7 million reasons to demand the resignation of the Labour Minister: Romania’s children and their RON 42 allowance.”

Meeting president, PSD Senator Ioan Chelaru, mentioned that the motion has 44 signatures (more than the 42 required) and will be submitted to the Senate President.

“I think, without having discussed with the president before, that the legal term to debate the motion will be on Monday, at 4 pm, considering that the president accepts it”, Ioan Chelaru declared, as quoted by Agerpres.

Alina Gorghiu, PNL co-President announced on Monday, after the meeting of the party unification committee, that the party will submit a main motion to the party, targeted to allowances for children.

“Today, we will submit a main motion to the Senate, on the topic of allowances for children. I am deeply hurt that this Ministry is led by a person who does not care at all about the situation of Romania’s families”, Alina Gorghiu announced, according to Mediafax. She mentioned that, according to statistics, children’s allowance in Romania is EON 42, compared to other European states, such as Belgium, that grants EUR 77 for the first child, EUR 143 for the second and EUR 212 for the third; Holland, that grants allowances of EUR 58 for children under six, EUR 70 from children from six to twelve and EUR 82 for children from twelve to seventeen, or Hungary, that grants allowances of EUR 63 for healthy children and EUR 101 for children with disabilities.

“Unfortunately, if we fail to solve this issue, and the PNL project is there in the Chamber of Deputies – I invite PSD to vote for it – we will be labeled as a country that had abandoned its children”, Alina Gorghiu also pointed out.
