Mircea Geoana: ‘There is no accusation against me’

Senator Mircea Geoana, the President of the Romanian Social Party (PSRO), said in Craiova on Thursday that he had reported to the National Anticorruption Department (DNA) on Thursday as a witness, saying ‘there is no accusation’ against him.

‘When I am invited to go as a witness, as it was the case in a different story regarding the 2009 period or the period when I was the president of PSD, I will positively answer the indication I will be given. Exactly the same thing happened yesterday. There is no shadow of doubt or incrimination regarding me, there’re is no accusation or doubt about my probity, honesty and integrity. It is my main asset in politics’, Geoana said during a press conference.

The president of PSRO also said that, if he was asked to testify in a case, he would openly do that as all citizens are equal before the law.

Senator Mircea Geoana also said that ‘each answers for their own deeds’.

‘If other persons did things and made mistakes, no matter how much I worked with anyone, for I have worked with many people in politics, each answers for their own deeds. So I can sleep well at night and will continue to do politics as long as I have enough energy and people’s support’, Geoana also said.

Senator Mircea Geoana was heard by DNA on Wednesday. The ex-Foreign Minister came with his lawyer.
