Border patrolmen with the Husi Sector of the Border Police have detected in their area of operations eight Afghani citizens who were attempting to illegally cross into Romania. The policemen, aided by the thermal vision vehicle in their use, observed eight persons who were crossing the Pruth river into Romania by means of an inflatable boat.

“The border patrolmen of the Husi Sector of the Border Police took action, discovering, near the Husi-Albita road, at the southern edge of the Risesti locality, eight persons – four males, one woman and three children of Afro-Asian origin. Our workers attempted to identify the persons, on which occasion they discovered they do not speak Romania, reason for which they were led to the headquarters of the Husi Sector of the Border Police, in order to determine their identity and further investigate”, a press release remitted by the Vaslui Service of the Border Police informs.

The border patrolmen identified the eight persons as being Afghani, with ages between 27 and 39, while the children accompanying them were aged between 3 and 6. They had crossed the Prut River with the aid of an inflatable boat with the intent of getting to a Schengen Area country.

The patrolmen opened criminal files for illegal crossing of the state border and surrendered the citizens to the border authorities of the neighboring state in order for them to continue with the investigation.
