PNL co-chairman Vasile Blaga’s son-in-law arrested for 30 days

Judges from the Bucharest Court on Friday decided to place Andrei Rudeanu, the son-in-law of the National Liberal Party (PNL) co-chairman Vasile Blaga, in preventive detention for 30 days, in a case in which he is accused of tax evasion, with damages amounting to 600,000 euros.

The decision is not final.

Andrei Rudeanu was detained on Thursday by the prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Court of Appeal, after five searches were conducted at the houses and company headquarters of several persons from Bucharest, Deva and Buftea, in a criminal case having to do with tax evasion.

The searches were conducted at the security and protection company of the Axis Corporate Security company belonging to Ioan Andrei Rudeanu, who afterwards was detained by the prosecutors and taken to hearings.

According to data from the Trade Register, Axis Corporate Security is headquartered in Deva, and has as associates Mariana Aurora Rudeanu (50 per cent) and Andrei Rudeanu (50) per cent, the latter being also the manager.

According to the prosecutors, the existing data and evidence show that, over 2010-2014, the targeted persons, among whom the representatives of the security company allegedly operated fictitious commercial transactions with the intention to avoid taxes.

The total damage to the state budget amounts to approximately 2,500,000 lei, Agerpres informs.
