President Klaus Iohannis’s second book “The First Step’ (in Romanian ‘ Primul pas’, published by Curtea Veche Publishing House was launched on Saturday at the Bookfest International Book Fair.
Iohannis was accompanied by his wife Carmen. The event at Curtea Veche’s stand at Bookfest included an autograph session and was attended by the publishing house manager Iren Arsene, by writer Iulian Tanase, and by several presidential advisors and staff.
According to the publisher, the book is a chronicle of the presidential election campaign of 2014 and a critical analysis of the political models of Romania. It tells the story of a collective victory and depicts the self-portrait of a candidate who used a different discourse and behaviour to convey his own model and message.
‘The First Step’ is a continuation of Iohannis’s first book, ‘Step by Step’ ( ‘Pas cu pas’ in Romanian) which according to Curtea Veche Publishing was the absolute bestseller of 2014, with 130,000 copies sold.
