The 12th edition of the International Wine Contest Bucharest (IWCB) took place in Bucharest on May 21-24. The IWCB took place under the aegis of the International Vine and Wine Organization. The grading and promoting of high-value wines has become the main goal of the IWCB, to the benefit of wine consumers and producers. The almost 1,000 wine samples from a record number of 27 participating countries were evaluated by international specialists.

The international jury consisted of judges from: Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Switzerland, France, Israel, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Spain and the United States.

This year’s competition took place in a private setting, the same one that hosts the world’s largest collection of corkscrews from all parts of the world and all historical periods, featuring all styles, materials and/or cork extraction systems.

The IWCB Awards Gala will take place on June 2.

At the same time, on June 2-7 Romania will organize the 36th Congress of the International Vine and Wine Organization, through the National Vine and Wine Products Office (ONVPV), an institution subordinated to the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry.
