Alcatel-Lucent Romania is opening a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) laboratory at the Timisoara Polytechnic University’s Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, through a EUR 200,000 investment.
The opening of the LTE Laboratory is part of Alcatel-Lucent Romania’s strategy to contribute to the development of technical education in Timisoara through direct collaboration with the world of academia and through transfer of know-how, as well as investments in hardware and software. This project is part of over 20 years of collaboration between Alcatel-Lucent and Timisoara University, a collaboration through which students are given access to classes and technologies that are in line with current trends.
“By investing in education and in the future generation of professionals, Alcatel-Lucent plans to support the best students to prepare for the real world, beyond the theory. With the opening of the LTE Laboratory at the Polytechnic University in Timisoara and having access to the newest equipment and technologies, students and professors are offered opportunities to develop in line with the telecommunication market’s demands,” Alcatel-Lucent Romania CEO Eugen Serbanescu stated.
The LTE Laboratory was designed as an educational space that will be used by those who study the principles of mobile communication with emphasis placed on the general working principles of the LTE 4G standard, as well as for students enrolled in the Metropolitan LTE Networks class.
