Bosch Group will invest approximately EUR 55 M in Romania in the next two years, mostly in the development of production units in the sector of mobility solutions (for the auto industry), Robert Bosch CEO Mihai Boldijar stated on Thursday at a press conference.
In Blaj the company will open a new production line for engine block components, while new products – airbag deployment control systems, electric window command systems, solar panel inverter – will be introduced at the plant in Jucu, Cluj County. The investments in auto technology total an estimated EUR 40 M in 2015-2016.
Last year Bosch sales on the Romanian market totalled EUR 210 M (RON 933 M), while its investments stood at EUR 8 M. In 2014 Bosch Group purchases in Romania surpassed EUR 126 M (goods, semi-processed goods, finished products etc.), which makes Romania the fifth-biggest Bosch supplier in Central and South East Europe.
For 2015, Bosch estimates a 12-15 per cent growth in sales in Romania and its number of employees to grow from 2,700 at the end of 2014 to over 3,000.
“After the first quarter of 2015 the company registered a significant year-on-year growth in sales. We stake on two-digit growth in all sectors of activity this year,” Mihai Boldijar stated.
At global level, Bosch Group (one of the 10 largest German companies) estimates a 3-5 per cent growth in sales this year.
Bosch Group’s four main lines of activity are mobility solutions for the auto industry (68 per cent of total sales), industrial technology (14 per cent), consumer goods (9 per cent) and constructions and energy technology (9 per cent). Ordered by regions, Bosch sales concentrated in Europe (53 per cent) and Asia-Pacific (27 per cent).
