The Romanian software and IT services industry registered revenues of EUR 2.42 bln in 2014, up by 13 per cent year-on-year, according to the “Software and IT Services in Romania” report presented on Wednesday at a press conference by the Software Industry’s Employers’ Association (ANIS).

Industry specialists forecast a turnover growth of 14 per cent in 2014, while the average annual growth for the next 3 years is estimated at 11 per cent.

According to the ANIS report, of the total revenues registered by software and IT services companies in Romania in 2014, approximately 65 per cent came from exports, a share that grew by 5 per cent year-on-ear.

“The software and services industry is one of the top-performing industries Romania currently has, given the rate of growth which is four times higher than the one estimated for the whole economy. In 2014 the IT&C industry registered its biggest GDP share so far, namely 6 per cent, 2.5 per cent of which was generated by software and services. ANIS has invested in this survey in order to come to the support of IT industry in Romania, to make it grow. We wanted to author this report in order to offer some figures on which any investor could base an investment in Romania. We find ourselves at a moment in which Romanian IT is recognized,” ANIS Vice President Teodor Blidarus stated.

Many analysts emphasise that Romania can become a regional IT services and software products engine, provided the education system evolves faster and fiscal facilities help create added value.
