INS: Romania’s industrial output grows 3.4 pct Jan – April, 2015

Romania’s industrial output grew by 3.4 percent over January 1- April 30, 2015 compared with the similar period of 2014, as series adjusted for working days and seasonality, following increases recorded in the processing industry (plus 3.9 per cent), the National Statistics Institute (INS) reported on Thursday.
According to the the INS, the processing industry contributed the most to this growth (plus 3.9 per cent), while the mining industry decreased by 4.4 per cent and also the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and production reduced by 0.9 per cent.
Industrial production stood at the same level in April as March, depending on the number of working days and seasonality. The electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and production increased by 5.6 per cent, while the mining industry and the processing industry dropped 2.6 and 2.4 per cent, respectively.
Compared with the same month of last year, industrial production, as series adjusted for working days and seasonality, increased by 4.1 per cent, following the positive results recorded in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and production (plus 8.4 per cent) and processing industry (plus 2.5 per cent). The mining industry was the only one that saw a drop, by 7.9 per cent.
During the aforementioned period, the industrial production (the gross series) increased by 2.9 per cent as a result of rises in the processing industry (+3.6 per cent). Instead, the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and production and the mining industry dropped by 4.9 per cent, 1.3 per cent respectively.
Compared with the previous month of the same year, the industrial production (the gross series) decreased by 6.5 per cent, following decreases in the following three industrial sectors: the mining industry (-11.2 per cent), the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and production (-8.4 per cent) and the processing industry (-6.1 per cent).
The INS data show that, in April 2015, as compared with April 2014, the industrial production (the gross series) grew by 1.8 per cent, following increases in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and production (+7.9 per cent) and the processing industry (+1.7 per cent). On the other hand, the mining industry fell 8.8 per cent.

 

Eurostat: Romania ranks 5th in European Union at industrial output growth in April

 

The industrial output of Romania has registered a 0.1 percent growth in April, the same with the European Union (EU 28) and the euro zone, as compared to March 2015, the data released by the European Office of Statistics (Eurostat) informed on Friday.
