Premier Victor Ponta has to undergo surgery on his left knee after he suffered an injury approximately two weeks ago, official sources have stated for Agerpres. According to them, the Prime Minister underwent a medical check-up on Thursday morning at the Central Military Hospital and based on the result of the MRI the doctors recommended that he should undergo knee surgery.

On May 26, during a meeting with the Albanian President in Tirana, the Romanian Premier stated that he played basketball and is slightly injured.

“I apologize but I played basketball and I am a bit injured,” Ponta said smilingly.
