Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) has bought 180,000 tons of wheat from Romania and Russia, to be delivered on July 15-31, Reuters informs.
“Egypt has bought 60,000 tons of wheat from Romania, from Cargill company, another 60,000 tons of wheat also from Romania, from Nidera company, as well as 60,000 tons of wheat from Russia, from the Venus company,” GASC President Mamdouh Abdel Fattah stated.
According to him, the average price stood at USD 262.12 per ton, a tariff that includes the cost of transport too.
Egypt’s GASC has purchased approximately 5 million tons of wheat from international markets this year. Likewise, Egyptian authorities have bought 3.5 million tons of wheat from local farmers.
