Mihai Fifor nominated Transport Minister

Premier Victor Ponta has transmitted to President Klaus Iohannis his proposal to nominate PSD Senator Mihai Fifor as Transport Minister, Mediafax informs, quoting government sources. The proposal was transmitted to the Presidency on Friday. On Thursday, government sources stated that Fifor may be nominated by Premier Victor Ponta for the office of Transport Minister. Mihai Fifor is chairman of the Senate’s Commission for Transport and Energy. The office of Transport Minister has been vacant for almost a week, ever since Ioan Rus resigned following his statements about Romanians living abroad, statements that were considered offensive. Ioan Rus stated on Digi24, while talking about Romanians living abroad and about how much they win in the constructions sector, that for a salary of EUR 1,500 “their children become punks and their wives whores.” Rus was appointed Transport Minister in June last year.
