Noomi Rapace and Glenn Close are the leading stars of a new SF thriller due to be shot in Romania, “What Happened to Monday?”, directed by Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola. The shooting of the film will start in July, according to Bogdan Moncea, Castel Film manager, who discussed these topics with Mediafax.
The casting is completed and the two lead actresses will spend the same amount of time in Romania. “The shooting will start at the end of July and they will last quite a lot. We will work in the Castel Studios, and we will also shoot a few weeks in Bucharest and all over the country”, Bogdan Moncea declared. In this film, Noomi Rapace plays seven identical sisters living in a state that has adopted an one-child policy, so that the girls are forced to assume the same identity in public. Named by their father after the days of the week, they do just fine until one day when Monday fails to come home. „The film provides the singular opportunity for an actor to play seven roles”, Tommy Wirkola declared, as quoted by Variety.com. “It is not merely a technical challenge, but it is also an opportunity to do something new in cinema, something fresh, which is rare in our days”, the director declared, known to the audience for the long film “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters” (2013).
