European Funds Minister Marius Nica in Valea Jiului said that he will propose PM Victor Ponta the creation of a working group to identify the proper funding opportunities for projects aimed at developing Valea Jiului, taking into account that the area is facing economic problems.
‘I shall propose the Prime Minister the creation of a working group made up of technical staff, supported by a high-level working group, which can make decisions in order to establish funding opportunities for 2014-2020,’ Nica said.
The Minister showed that it is likely that next week the European Commission approve the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme, the last one to receive this approval from the European Union.
‘Next week we expect a good piece of news from the EC, referring to the approval of the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme, the last one left to be approved. For that reason, now it is the moment to shape up certain funding strategies and opportunities,’ the Minister said.
He mentioned that funding sources can be found for various projects necessary to the local communities, but drew the attention that these must be approached by an integrated manner, in which the mayors should collaborate with the County Council, with the universities and other local factors. ‘Punctual approaches cannot lead to success,’ Minister Marius Nica pointed out.
