Liberal Cristian Adomnitei, investigated for favouring an offender, will not run for local elections

Liberal Cristian Adomnitei, who has resigned as Head of PNL Iasi, after legal issues, as he is investigated in probation for favouring an offender, announced on Sunday, in a meeting of Iasi County Liberals, that he would not run for the local elections of next year.

Cristian Adomnitei attended on Sunday the meeting of the Managing County Council of PNL Iasi, attended by 200 Liberals of the county, and announced that he was not willing to run for next year’s local elections.

According to Liberal sources, Adomnitei told his colleagues in the party that he did not believe he would clear his legal issues until June 2016, and therefore, he would not run for local elections.

“PNL must seek a candidate for Iasi Mayoralty”, Adomnitei stated, according to the same sources.

On the other hand, Cristian Adomnitei admitted that his presence on the local PNL lists would “feed” his adversaries of PSD, who could speculate on the fact that a legally prosecuted person is included on PNL lists.

This May, Cristian Adomnitei suspended himself from all political positions, including that of President of PNL Iasi.

Until the start of the DNA inquiry against him, Adomnitei had declared that he did not outrule a candidacy to the Mayoralty of Iasi, for the 2016 elections.

The President of Iasi County Council, Cristian Adomnitei, investigated on probation for favouring an offender and intellectual forgery, presently prohibited to exercise his position, was sued by DNA; the Iasi County became a plaintiff in this file with over RON 391,000.

The prosecutors of the Iasi Territorial Service of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate initiated the trial, on probation, against the President of Iasi County Council, Liberal Cristian Adomnitei, for favouring an offender and intellectual forgery.

Also, lawsuits were initiated for the following defendants, presently under house arrest: Teodora Cristina Jinga, Executive Manager of the Projects and Sustainable Development Department of Iasi County Council, at the time the offences were committed, for abuse of office, continued intellectual forgery and instigation to continued forgery and Ingrid Carmen Irimescu, Head of the Projects and Partnerships Service of the Projects and Sustainable Development Department of Iasi County Council at the time the offences were committed, for abuse of office, continued intellectual forgery and complicity to intellectual forgery.

Also Letitia Elena Popa, Manager of SC Laser Co SRL, presently under house arrest, was sued for instigation to abuse of office, complicity to continued intellectual forgery and continued issuing of false privately signed documents. The prosecutors also decided to sue SC Laser Co SRL for instigation to abuse of office, complicity to intellectual forgery and continued issuing of false privately signed documents.

The Magistrates of Iasi Appeal Court decided on June 25 that County Council President Cristian Adomnitei would be investigated on probation after he had been kept under house arrest since May 14. The judges decided that he would be banned to exercise his profession, therefore, he did not return to the leading position of Iasi County Council.

During his house arrest, Iasi County Council President Cristian Adomnitei was suspended from his position by a decision issued by Iasi County Prefect Dan Carlan.
