Over 66% of the high school graduates who sat the Baccalaureate exams this year obtained pass marks, Education Minister Sorin Cimpeanu informed on Tuesday morning.
The percentage of students who obtained more than 5 (66.41% or a total of 106,000) is 7% higher than last year, when only 59% per cent were successful in the Baccalaureate exam, the minister said on Antena 3 TV.
The counties with the highest pass rates are Cluj – 82.18%, Brasov – 78.74%, Bacau – 78.34% and Sibiu – 76.81%. In Bucharest 68% obtained pass marks in the Baccalaureate. A total of 63 candidates obtained the maximum average mark of 10 nationwide.
In the tail of the ranking there are the following counties: Giurgiu, 36.06%, Teleorman – 42.73% and Ilfov – 40.92%.
The candidates who are not happy with the marks can appeal.
This year there were more candidates than last year and almost a quarter of them were re-sitting the exam.
Thos who were unsuccessful will have a second change in the autumn Baccalaureate session.
