Days of fire over Romania: Six counties under Code Orange warning of hot weather

The National Weather Administration (ANM) has updated the warning of scorching heat valid over the weekend : six south-western and western counties, Bihor, Arad, Timis, Caras-Severin, Mehedinti and Dolj will be under Code Orange warning on Sunday and Monday, while the  rest of the country will remain under Code Yellow alert.

According to the meteorologists, on Saturday, July 18, the weather will be hot all over Romania, with scorching heat in Banat, Crisana, most part of Oltenia and the south-west of Muntenia, with 36-38 degrees Celsius maximum temperatures to be recorded. The temperature-humidity index (THI) will locally exceed 80 units.

Also, on Sunday, July 19, and on Monday, July 20, the heat wave will intensify and engulf the entire country. The maximum temperatures will frequently exceed 35-36 degrees and locally they will reach 37-38 degrees. The temperature-humidity index (THI) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units in most part of the territory.

ANM points out that, depending on the developments and the intensity of the weather phenomena, it will update the current warning.
