Former Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi – who has the diplomatic rank of ambassador – stated on Friday for Mediafax that he has returned to the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) where he will deal “with implementing the projects included in the European Union’s Danube Strategy.”
The ambassador emphasized that he is “a career diplomat, with all imaginable accreditation letters,” and he recalled the stages of his professional evolution: “I was three times head of mission (Vatican, Lisbon, Paris), director general, secretary of state for Global Affairs and then, for a little over two years, Foreign Affairs Minister.”
In what concerns his recent activities, ambassador Baconschi stated: “It is known I have left political life for over a year now and I don’t plan on returning. For a while I offered private consultancy on the issue of developments in the Eastern space and I gave public conferences throughout the country, apart from publishing a new book at the Humanitas Publishing House.”
Teodor Baconschi was Foreign Minister in the Boc Government.
