President Klaus Iohannis had a working meeting with his Austrian counterpart Heinz Fischer on Sunday, in Salzburg , the Romanian Presidential Administration informed in a release .
According to this source, the two presidents discussed current topics on the European and international agenda.
“As regards the European issues, the two presidents highlighted the interest in enhancing the cooperation and coordination on regional interest topics, in the perspective of the successive EU Council presidencies of Austria and Romania in 2019. There was also an emphasis on the wish to boost the dynamics of the collaboration within the European Union Strategy on the Danube and Western Balkan region,” the release mentions.
Presidents Iohannis and Fischer also exchanged opinions on the evolution of the bilateral relation and voiced their satisfaction for the excellent dialogue and cooperation on multiple levels between Romania and Austria, as well as the wish to further consolidate these relations.
The top-level meeting was occasioned by the attendance of the President of Romania at the official opening of the Salzburg Festival.
