Agricultural production, up 2.9pct, in 2014

Vegetal and animal productions and agricultural services recorded increases in 2014, and thus agriculture saw a 2.9pct advance from the previous year, according to the semi-final data released by the National Statistics Institute (INS) on Friday.
According to the cited source, in terms of the value structure of vegetal production, on the main crop groups in 2014 compared to 2013, the share of vegetable and fruit crops rose by two percentage points and 1.4 percentage points respectively, while the share of grain and fodder crops decreased by 2.1 percentage points and 0.4 percentage points respectively. In contrast, the share of oily plant crops remained constant.
In the production structure changes occurred in 2014, in the sense of decrease in vegetal production share (65.8pct) and increase in animal production share (32.9pct), whilst the share of agricultural services production went up (1.3pct).
On the whole, agricultural production recorded a positive performance (+ 2.9pct) in 2014 compared to 2013. In this sense, the vegetal, animal and agricultural services productions showed increases by 2.9pct, 2.5pct and 24.3pct respectively.
