Codrin Stefanescu, new interim president of PSD Prahova

Interim PSD President Liviu Dragnea announced on Monday that PSD Deputy Secretary General Codrin Stefanescu will be the interim president of PSD Prahova.

“I have decided that starting today until the Prahova branch’s internal elections, its interim leadership will be held by Codrin Stefanescu, in order for him to have all the prerogatives needed in order to be able to manage the organization and activity of this branch,” Liviu Dragnea announced.

The decision comes only days after PSD Prahova’s Permanent County Bureau convened on July 24 and took note of the fact that Mircea Cosma had reconsidered his self-imposed suspension from the position of branch president. On the same day, the Bureau sent a letter to the party’s Permanent National Bureau, informing interim president Liviu Dragnea that Mircea Cosma is the local branch’s president, Senator Savu Daniel giving up the position of interim president and returning to his previous position of First Vice President of PSD Prahova.

Codrin Stefanescu will be interim president until the local branch’s new leadership will be elected at the County Conference.

Mircea Cosma was arraigned in April 2014 in a corruption case handled by DNA Ploiesti. His son, PSD MP Vlad Cosma, was also arraigned in the same case. Mircea Cosma was accused of passive bribery and malfeasance in office.
