Eight million Romanians have Facebook accounts

Eight million Romanians have Facebook accounts, 11.11 percent more compared with the first six months of 2014, when there were 7.2 million accounts, shows data analyzed by Facebrands.ro, the monitoring service of pages by Romanian users on this social network.

Out of the total number of users, 93.45pct (7,475,900 users) have set their city of residence: most of them are from Bucharest (1.64 million, 21.95pct), followed by Cluj-Napoca (280,040 users, 3.76pct), Timisoara and Iasi (280,000 users, 3.75pct).

According to statistics released by Facebrands , most Romanian Facebook frequent users are aged 25-34 (29.9pct). The next age categories in terms of frequency of use are 18-24 (24.7pct) and 35-44 (19pct).

In Romania, 62.5pct of users are men and 37.5pct are women. Most users are married (57.96pct) and 38.65 are listed as single.

The Facebook page receiving most visits among those set up by Romanian artists is that of Inna, with 12,133,352 likes (down by 488 since last measurement), followed by Akcent (3,577,027 likes, up by 44) and Alexandra Stan (3,393,720 likes, up by 231).

Facebrands.ro monitors Facebook accounts set up by individuals and institutions (companies, NGOs) based in Romania to show the increase in page likes on a daily and weekly basis, compared to other pages in the same category
