Deputy Prime Minister for National Security and Minister of Internal Affairs Gabriel Oprea will take over the prime minister’s responsibilities as regards the Government’s current affairs from July 29 to August 9, according to a decision by Premier Victor Ponta published on Wednesday in the Official Journal.
Ponta has announced on Tuesday, in a B1TV late-night broadcast that he and his wife Daciana Sarbu, together with their two children, will take off for a holiday from Wednesday.
He has also ruled out an eventual immediate trip to Turkey, to have knee surgery again.
Ponta on vacation for the next two weeks
Prime Minister Victor Ponta announced on Tuesday that the Government will go on vacation for the next two weeks.
“It is the last meeting of the Government before a two-week vacation”, the prime minister told his ministers.
Prime Minister Victor Ponta will authorise Deputy Prime Minister Gabriel Oprea to carry out the operative leadership of the Government starting most likely on Wednesday, governmental sources report.
The same sources say the next meeting of the Government is scheduled for August 19.
On July 23, Ponta said he is likely to undergo another knee surgery that is not as serious as the first was.
