Tarom plans to completely renew its fleet of aircraft and to replace its current Airbus A310s, A318s and ATRs used for short-distance flights with new aircraft from Airbus, Embraer (Brazil) or Boeing.
“We now have to change the entire fleet of airplanes in order for it to be harmonized and for the maintenance and operational costs to be low. We are looking at several options, including Boeing, Airbus and Embraer. What is important for us is what these manufacturers can offer in order to replace the whole fleet of airplanes. We want new airplanes but ones we can afford and we can finance through operational leasing,” Tarom CEO Christian Heinzmann stated for ‘Ziarul Financiar,’ zf.ro informs.
Depending on the package offered by each airplane manufacturer, the company also wants to replace its ATR airplanes it currently uses especially for national flights.
