Romania wins four medals at International Olympiad in Informatics

Romania’s team won four medals – one gold, two silver and one bronze – at the 27th International Olympiad in Informatics, which gathered 324 competitors in Almaty (Kazakhstan) until Saturday.

The Ministry of Education nominated the Romanian medalists in a release to Agerpres: gold winner for the fourth time – multiple national and international laureate Rares Darius Buhai; silver – for the second time in a row, Alexandru Velea, 12th grade, ‘Tiberiu Popoviciu’ Informatics Secondary School of Cluj-Napoca; and Marius Valentin Harsan, 12th grade, International Informatics Secondary School of Bucharest; bronze – Andrei Popa, 10th grade, ‘Mihail Kogalniceanu’ Theoretical Secondary School of Vaslui.

Romania was thus 10th among the 84 participating countries and remains 6th in the all-time medal ranking with a total of 95 (28 gold, 42 silver and 25 bronze).
