“UNTOLD will be more than just a festival, more than just music! We will give you the chance to get away from your everyday life into a fantasy-like realm,” the organizers of what was expected to be the biggest festival in Romania promised. And it seems they kept their word since the festival, which brought dozens of artists to Cluj, registered approximately 70,000 fans per evening. In fact, considering that the number of those who visited Cluj on this occasion stood, according to unofficial data, at approximately 300,000, almost as much as the city’s population, the authorities promised that last weekend’s edition will be followed by another one in 2016.
“All the events taking place this year as part of the European Capital of Youth will continue in following years too. Obviously, those that validated themselves and that were appreciated as real successes. I have no reasons to consider that this event will not be a success, so in conclusion if it is a success it will continue in following years too. The City Hall’s contribution stood at EUR 40,000, approximately 10 per cent of the festival’s budget,” Emil Boc, the mayor of the central Transylvanian city stated before the start of the Untold Festival. The mayor was among the fans, alongside his whole family. “The atmosphere was extraordinary, and I think one can only feel fantastic among so many thousands of young people who transmit so much positive energy and optimism,” Boc said.
Among the bands and artists which performed in Cluj during July 30 – August 2 were Avicii, David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Steve Aoki, Tiesto, Martin Garix, Dimitri vegas & Like Mike and Hardwell.
