Guitar maestro Jan Akkerman to perform at Bucharest’s Hard Rock Café

Jan Akkerman, one of the greatest guitarists of all time, will perform on Thursday, August 20, at 9.30 p.m., at Bucharest’s Hard Rock Café.

Akkerman has been combining progressive rock with blues and jazz for over 50 years. He sang alongside B.B. King, Paco De Lucia, Alan Price, Herman Brood, Peter Banks, Phil Collins, Jack Bruce, Charlie Byrd and Ice-T.

The son of a simple worker from Amsterdam, Jan started to learn guitar at only 5 years of age and his first single was launched in 1960 when he was 13. Throughout the years he launched over 20 albums and enjoyed international success after founding the Focus band alongside Thijs van Leer.

In 1992 he was involved in a serious car accident, but resumed playing in 1993. In the late 1990s, after an absence of nearly 20 years, he was persuaded to tour the UK again and has continued to do so on a regular basis.

He writes for the Dutch magazine GitaarPlus.

In 2013, Akkerman released his latest album, “North Sea Jazz.”

Tickets to Jan Akkerman’s concert at the Hard Rock Café are available on and throughout the iaBilet network.
