Romanian suspected of links to Islamic State terrorist organization, searched by Bulgarian security services

Security services in Bulgaria are searching for two foreigners, a Romanian men and a young French woman allegedly said to be linked to the Islamic State terrorist organization and who are in Bulgaria at present, the National Bulgarian Television (BNT) is quoted by SofiaGlobe.com as announcing on Sunday.

According to the identity papers of the suspects broadcast by BNT and other Bulgarian media, the two sought for persons are Ezidis Elham, a 29-year-old French citizen of Iranian origin, and Mimo Popescu, a 24-year-old Romanian. It is believed that they are in the capital Sofia, the source said.

It was not clear when the two had arrived in the country and how.

Bulgarian Prosecutor-General Sotir Tsatsarov was informed about the case and was being kept updated, as there is a constant exchange of information with partner agencies. The signal that the two were in the Bulgarian territory had been given by the foreign security agencies through “international cooperation,”, the Bulgarian source said.
