Cluj-Napoca airport sees traffic up 30pct by mid-year

Air traffic at Avram Iancu International Airport of Cluj-Napoca was up 30 percent by this mid-year as compared to the same period a year ago, Cluj County Council chairman Mihai Seplecan announced at a news conference last  Thursday.

It is anticipated that 1.4 million passengers will be carried from the airport this year, so the County Council will soon start investments to boost the passenger processing capability, enhance the degree of comfort in the boarding area, extend the airport apron and repair the airport movement areas. “We will invest as much as possible in Cluj International Airport, since it is the main gateway to Cluj County”, Seplecan underscored.

As many as 23 regular destinations to 11 countries in Europe and the Middle East are currently operated from Avram Iancu International Airport by four air operators. Two new flights have been announced for the upcoming period: to Dubai (by Wizz Air, from Dec. 19, 2015) and to Warsaw (by LOT Polish Airlines, from Jan. 2, 2016).
